The Uses of Storytelling in the Early Childhood Classroom: Book Discussion Based on the Work of Vivian Gussin Paley

Join Joan Rocchetta in an interactive facilitated dialogue based on the book, “the boy who would be a helicopter”, by Vivian Gussin Paley, noted early childhood educator from University of Chicago who was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.

The book focuses on the challenges that an isolated child poses to his teachers and classmates, and how Ms. Paley, a gifted teacher, used thoughtful observation and storytelling as a vehicle for instruction.

Presenter: Joan Rocchetta, East End Early Childhood Specialist at the Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc.

Registration Fee: There is no fee for this workshop, however, registration is required in order to receive credit.

Register Deadline: Participants must register no later than February 1, 2025, in order to receive a copy of the boy who would be a helicopter. All registrants will receive a copy of the book by mail in time for you to read it for this discussion.
